What is it about the new years that gets people so excited anyway? It’s really just another day, not any different from yesterday, tomorrow or any other day. Yet we celebrate like mad as if the previous year was a year from hell.
That’s what I used to think.
Contrary to the past few years, I am exceptionally excited for 2011! I think it’s because towards the end of 2010 I sat down and came up with lots of fun goals and project ideas for myself this year and I just couldn’t wait to get it started!
Aside from booking wonderful clients and beautiful weddings here are my three photographic goals I made to stretch my creativity.
- Complete 52 Photo-Op projects (by Kevin Meredith): I got this book when it was first released last year. The book itself is such an eye-candy I simply couldn’t resist. I really want to work through all 52 ideas in the book and I think it will be an eye opening experience and help me see things differently! Who is with me!?
- Project Life: This is pretty much my take on Project 365. This means taking photos of my daily life as frequently as I can to document 2011 – on MOSTLY daily basis. I am posting the progress of this project on my Flickr every couple of days and I will also share a few every now and then here.
- Photograph 12 San Diego Locations: I realized recently that I haven’t really explored San Diego as I should have over the last 10 years that I have lived here. One of my uncles from Taiwan knew more about San Diego than me. Shame on me. I know. I am going to change this! So this year, I want to explore 12 hot spots in San Diego and get to know my city. If you are also in SD, and want to join in on the fun, drop me a line!
Anyway, this post is getting way too long. Those are the three main projects that I am committing myself to this years. There are few smaller tasks but I think I’ll spare you from the details and maybe share them along the way as I accomplish them:P. Hopefully I’ll be able to live up to my own expectations. I guess we’ll find out in December!
For the time being, why not celebrate by dancing a jig with me!
